The Young Tech program teaches basic information on blockchain, web3, and NFTs. We discuss the technology, communities, projects, and system dynamics. We also introduce the participants to apps and dApps used in web3, including a hands-on “How to make a wallet” workshop. In the first edition we provided mentorship for 40 students from the Maré, Alemão, and Manguinhos communities in RJ. The program was conducted in partnership with Educar+ (an NGO with six years of experience in teaching in the favelas) and UNISUAM University (an institution with over 50 years of history of education for underprivileged communities that provides the space to conduct the courses). A total of 21 students finished the program and received a certificate.
